Breathing techniques - learning when and how to use the breath throughout the day to maintain a sense of balance regardless of what life throws at you.
Meditation practices and exercises that ground you in the present moment, focusing your mind on one thing at a time, reducing mind wandering.
Knowledge of how the body reacts to stress and how mindfulness can intervene helping you to respond more consciously to situations as they arise.
Identifying your own stress triggers and coping strategies to handle stress better.
Understanding how and why unhelpful thought patterns emerge in the brain.
Reconnecting with your senses and with the body.
Improved self awareness - understanding your thoughts and feelings better as you really start to listen to yourself (heart as well as head).
Learning how to handle difficult thoughts and feelings better.
Boosting love and kindness for ourselves and others - empathy and compassion.
DETAILS OF GROUP SESSION
One evening a week for 8 weeks (two hour slot).
Handouts and guided meditation downloads provided for practice at home or on the move.
Free parking available plus a hot drink and biscuits on arrival.
Mats, cushions and blankets will be available to use in the session.
Meditations will change each week - we will cover seated meditations, the body scan (lying on a mat) and mindful movement (involving light stretching and walking).
